Meet dinner table specialist, Amanda…

Amanda Nelson Varnell, is a family dinner table specialist. A Californian by birth and a Chattanoogan by choice, she was born in the Bay Area of California but has lived in Chattanooga, Tennessee since the late ‘80’s, founding her first food-centric business, CookingLIVE, in 2006, teaching cooking classes focused on the week night dinner table in the Greater Chattanooga area, and speaking on the topic of the dinner table.

This captivating mom of four opened the award-winning, high volume corporate catering company, Dish T’Pass, in Downtown Chattanooga in December 2012. Recent industry changes motivated her to close catering services, return to her passion – the family dinner table – and pivot to a [virtual] cooking school. Along with the Dish T’Pass pivot, the idea of Cooking for Your Week was born.

Amanda’s fascination with food began as a young child as she watched her grandmother make homemade candies and cookies each Christmas for gifting. Beginning her own recipe and cookbook collection at the young age of 8, she treasures church and community collection cookbooks above all others. Amanda’s culinary career spans nearly 3 decades.
